Sarah Washburn, Outdoor Recreation Office Assistant
Growing up in Southern Illinois, Sarah’s favorite summer days were spent kayaking the beautiful rivers of the Missouri Ozarks. Along her Midwest adventures, Sarah was lucky enough to canoe the Boundary Waters in Canada, camp in the Blue Mountains of Virginia, and explore the lakes of Northern Maine. With all these wonderful experiences, Sarah knew early in her life that the outdoors was where she needed to be. Six years ago, Sarah packed up her belongings and moved to the Pacific Northwest and immediately fell in love with its beauty. Since the move, Sarah hasn’t looked back, taking every opportunity to raft the wild rivers in the summer, ski the mountains in the winter, backpack every chance in between, and even pursue an education in outdoor recreation. With the seemingly endless amount of adventures in her backyard, Sarah is living the outdoor life of her dreams. Sarah helps run Western Waters in the summer months.
Sara grew up in South Dakota and originally fished with a pole, bobber, and worm. She is a member of Spokane Women on the Fly. She is also the Founder of the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) in Missoula and now works as a Fine Art teacher in Coeur d’Alene with her husband while running Coeur d’Alene Adventures and Adventures with Western Waters behind the scenes during the summer months.
